Energy is what the body expends in keeping itself alive. The natural functioning of our organs, such as breathing, digestion, movement and thinking all require the expenditure of energy. We obtain our energy to live from the energy contained in the food we eat. Calories are the unit of measurement of energy present in food. If the body consumes more calories than it requires, the body stores the excess calories in the form commonly known as fat. Fitness weights can be fastened to the wrists, ankles and or waist when walking to and from work, when playing with the kids or when doing chores around the house. There are even weights made for use in water. While it may not seem like much, using these weights can increse the intensity of any activity you do and make you really burn those calories.
Owning a few ankle, wrist and hand held weights is also far less expensive than a gym membership or buying a full home gym. Furthermore, while gym memberships and home gyms often go to waste when people lose motivation or struggle to overcome inertia, fitness weights can be seamlessly integrated into ones existing lifestyle and can therefore be easily used for weight loss and fitness improvement for years to come.
2. Decrease the amount of energy consumed
The fastest way to decrease our energy consumption is to eliminate sugars and fats from our diets. These two food components are the highest in calories and the least effective in feeding our bodies. By eliminating sugary drinks and junk food from our diets we can significantly decrease our daily energy consumption. The major hurdle for many people may be finding healthy alternatives that are still tasty and inviting. Much of the battle can be won by changing ones mindset and making the decision that healthy is tasty and worthwhile.
By integrating fitness weights into our daily routine we can significantly increase our daily energy expenditure. By minimising, if not eliminating fats and sugars from our diet we can decrease our daily energy consumption. Together these two steps can help us achieve healthy and sustainable weight loss rather than the immediate but only temporary weight loss promised by the latest fads and products.
